Admissions Requirements


Greek or foreign citizens, holding a Greek General Lyceum (GEL) or Vocational Lyceum (EPAL) diploma must have participated in the Panhellenic Examinations and achieved at least the officially established Minimum Entry Score in order to be eligible for admission.

 

Holders of equivalent secondary education diplomas from recognized foreign schools in Greece (corresponding to Level 4 of the National Qualifications Framework).

 

Holders of international secondary education diplomas awarded by schools in Greece or abroad, as well as foreign citizens holding an equivalent high school diploma or an equivalent vocational education certificate that grants them the right to enter higher education institutions in the country where they studied.

 

For graduates who completed their degree before the 2021–2022 academic year, as well as for those who already hold a first-cycle (bachelor’s) degree, the admission and selection requirements established by the awarding (home) institution shall apply.

 

Non-EU applicants must demonstrate that they have sufficient financial resources to support their studies in Greece. This includes covering tuition fees, accommodation and living expenses, as well as travel costs. Following admission, accepted students are issued an official Invitation Letter by the University, which is necessary to begin the student visa application process.

Applicants must meet one of the following English language qualifications:

  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System): Overall score of 6.0, with no individual band score below 5.5.

  • Cambridge First Certificate in English – CEFR B2Exams taken after January 2015: Minimum overall score of 160Exams taken before January 2015: Pass at B2 level with a minimum grade of 52

  • Cambridge C2 Proficiency – Any passing grade

  • TOEFL iBT (Internet-Based Test): Minimum score of 72 (CEFR B2 – Upper Intermediate)

  • Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic): Level 5 / B2

  • University of Michigan (ECCE): CEFR B2

  • University of Michigan (ECCE): CEFR C2

  • Michigan State University (MSU-CELC): CEFR B2

  • Greek State Certificate of Language Proficiency (KPG): Level B2

  • NOCN Level 1 Certificate in ESOL International: B2

  • LRN Level 1 Certificate in ESOL International: B2

  • High School Diploma from a school where English is the official language of instruction (including graduates of International Baccalaureate (IB) programs).

  • High school graduates from the United States who have completed a course equivalent to English 1500 or 2500 at Iowa State University with a grade of B or higher at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in the U.S.

  • Other English language certificates will be considered and evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may be recognized. Applicants must submit complete documentation, including their official test results.

  • Oxford Placement Test (OPT):All students who do not hold official proof of English language proficiency are offered the option to take the Oxford Placement Test (OPT), which is administered on-site at AFS University of Science & Technology. Achieving a B2 level in all sections (Use of English and Listening), as well as an overall B2 grade, fulfills the English language requirements for admission to the BSc programs.

Application Review Process


  • Once the application and all required supporting documents have been submitted, the file is reviewed by the Admissions Committee.

  • The Admissions Committee consists of representatives from the Enrolment & Admissions Office and the School Chair to which the applicant has applied. If the applicant has also applied for a scholarship, a representative from the Advancement Office and the Finance Department participates in the review process.

  • The Committee evaluates each application holistically, taking into consideration the applicant’s academic background, qualifications, achievements, and overall profile.

  • A personal interview with an Admissions Officer is a prerequisite for an application to proceed to Committee review.

  • The Committee meets regularly throughout the Admissions Period. Applicants receive a decision within approximately two weeks.

  • Successful applicants are required to submit a written response, following the instructions outlined in their official Response Letter, within the specified deadline.
